In 1805, Napoleon I moved the École Polytechnique from the Hotel de Lassay (LINK: parisC520-hotel lassay}, where it had been founded in 1794 as the "École centrale des travaux publics." The new site chosen was the (Rue de la) Montagne Sainte Geneviève, replacing buildings of pre-existing colleges were had developed in the St. Geneviève district. This Turgot presentation shows this new district (see next photo for identifications). The view is southeast.
